I’m Brandon Cheng, a current Baylor University Aerospace Engineering student with a passion for deal finding and travel. I’ve always been referred to as the planner of my family, and often my mother or father would be the one to decide where we were going, and I would be the one responsible for booking everything. Now, as a nineteen-year-old, I’m well-educated on the art of deal finding, often using multiple techniques to make each dollar go as far as it can, but it wasn’t always like this. I started, like many kids, liking trains and planes. I watched all the Thomas episodes and the America by Rail documentaries. I also loved going to the IN-N-OUT on Sepulveda with my father and watching the heavies arrive at LAX in the afternoon. By the age of 12, I could name every plane at LAX and every train locomotive at Union Station and tell you where it was going. Naturally, with my love for trains and planes, I enjoyed traveling. I didn’t care where we went, but as long as we flew or took the train, I was happy. I wasn’t the type of kid who experienced Yacht vacations or trips to Bali every few months, but I still have had my fair share of great experiences up to this point in my life. I’ve been fortunate enough to go to Hawaii multiple times, as well as the Caribbean and Europe. Over time, I started to appreciate not just the destination, but the little things – the calm of being away, the value of quality time, and the challenge of making it all affordable. It got to a point where I asked myself: how can I maximize my experience on a vacation while minimizing cost? That’s when I started to get into deal finding. I taught myself how to stretch budgets using airline miles, credit card rewards, mistake fares, and clever booking strategies. Now, at 19, I’ve helped friends and family save thousands on travel while unlocking experiences they didn’t think were within reach. Whether it’s first-class flights booked with points or train itineraries that cost less than a meal, I’m all about making travel smarter, more accessible, and more fun.
